Jordan makes wine, and it’s good. In short: Jordan has two main wine producers – Jordan River (the Haddad family) and Zumot (Saint George) – with vineyards in the high, basalt-rich plains of Mafraq. Jordanian wine in a nutshell
- Jordan River (JR): the Haddad winery was established in 1975 and today produces around 500,000 bottles a year from dozens of grape varieties, about 90% sold in Jordan. Its Classic, Reserve and Sparkling lines are among our best-sellers.
- Zumot – Saint George: a family winery founded in 1996, known for organic wines.
- Why Mafraq? The vineyards sit around 840 metres above sea level, with underground water, basalt-rich soil and about 330 days of sunshine a year.

Serving temperatures
- Sparkling: 6–10 °C.
- White and rosé: 7–10 °C – straight from the fridge, then let it sit for five minutes.

- Full-bodied reds: 16–18 °C, slightly below room temperature in an Amman summer.
